The Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, hosted the UNICEF Chief, Veronika Vashchenko, together with the Child Rights Monitoring Specialist, Teuta Halimi, and the Consultant for Cooperation with Municipalities, Ema Rraci.
During the meeting, the new five-year UNICEF program and concrete opportunities for cooperation with municipalities were discussed for:
✓ Strengthening mechanisms for children’s rights at the municipal level,
✓ Improving planning and budgeting for social services,
✓Increasing investments for the well-being of children and youth,
✓Supporting the most vulnerable communities, especially the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.
During the meeting, the importance of the Performance Grant for Municipalities was also discussed, including indicators that encourage greater investments in areas of common interest.
