At the grant award ceremony held today in Prishtina, six new projects were presented as part of the Kosovo – North Macedonia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme, which will be supported with 3.24 million euros by the European Union.
The programme is financed by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III), and is implemented by the Ministry of Local Government Administration of the Republic of Kosovo and the Ministry of Local Self-Government of North Macedonia, which coordinate and support the implementation of the projects in both countries.
The projects aim to improve the quality of life of citizens in the cross-border region through strengthening regional cooperation, environmental protection and the development of sustainable tourism.
The ceremony organized in Prishtina was attended by the Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Elbert Krasniqi, Minister of Local Self-Government of North Macedonia, Mr. Zlatko Perinski, and Alessandro Bianciardi, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the European Union Office in Kosovo.
In Kosovo, project activities will be implemented mainly in the Sharr National Park and in the municipalities of Ferizaj, Kllokot, Mamushe, Rahovec and Ranillug.
In North Macedonia, beneficiaries will be the Sharr National Park, the Mavrovo National Park, as well as the municipalities of Brvenica, Butel, Gazi Baba, Gostivar, Mavrovo and Rankoce.
