The Division for the Advancement of Human Rights in Municipalities, within the Ministry of Local Government Administration, in cooperation with the Office for Good Governance within the Office of the Prime Minister and the NGO ‘Syri i Vizionit’, carried out a three-day training to build the capacities of secretaries of Child Rights Teams in municipalities.
The training was held from June 29 to July 1, 2026 in Vermica, with the participation of secretaries of Child Rights Teams, representatives of municipalities, MLGA and other responsible institutions at the local level.
The purpose of the training was to strengthen the professional capacities of municipal officials for collecting, organizing, analyzing and using data, with the aim of improving monitoring, reporting, planning and decision-making in the field of protection and promotion of children’s rights. During the three days of the training, participants discussed the current method of collecting and reporting data, the challenges faced by municipalities, as well as the need to create a clearer and standardized reporting process.
As a result of the training, concrete proposals were drafted for updating the questionnaire for municipalities, standardizing the data collection process, and strengthening inter-municipal cooperation regarding municipal plans, monitoring, and institutional reporting. It was also emphasized that reporting should not be limited to presenting only the number of activities carried out, but should also contain information on the results achieved, beneficiary groups, challenges, shortcomings and recommendations for improving policies and services for children.
In addition, the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA), in cooperation with the Office for Good Governance (OGG) within the Office of the Prime Minister, municipalities, the NGO Syri i Vizionit (SiV) and other partner organizations, will continue its commitment to strengthening municipal mechanisms for children’s rights, building the capacities of responsible officials and improving the quality of monitoring and reporting in this area.
