Ministry of Local Government Administration/MLGA organized the ceremony of publication of the Report of Functioning in the Municipalities of the Republic of Kosova, for the first six months, of 2012.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister of Kosova, simultaneously Minister of Local Government Administration, Slobodan Petrovic, welcoming the participants, he said that the ministry that he leads, has played its constructive role in relation to municipalities, making efforts that the municipal activity to be in harmony with the various laws, which cause responsibilities for the municipal authorities, and has continued to be a lacing bridge between the municipalities and the supervisory authorities, helping the development of the administrative review process.
Minister Petrovic has encouraged mayors to continue exercising their competencies with full responsibility, by fulfilling legal and constitutional obligations, in order that the quality of local government, be part of democratic developments in the country.
“Fair exercise and with responsibility of municipal competencies, foreseen by the legislation in force, is one of the important preconditions for democratic development of the country. With political changes in the country and adoption of basic legislation on local self-government, in the Republic of Kosova, is reached that the municipalities be given full autonomy in exercising of competencies of the local levelTherefore, MLGA will continue even in the future, to support municipalities with different projects, with the aim of strengthening the local government and increase of citizens welfare – said Minister Petrovic.
Also at the meeting was presented, the support of the Ministry of Local Government Administration to municipalities – capital investments, by the Department of Regional Development and European Integrations.
Meanwhile, during the presentation of the report of the functioning of municipalities for this six months period, was said that the Municipal Assemblies of the Republic of Kosovo, have created stability in exercising of functions by developing their activities in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The report presented aims to further increase the level of transparency in the Municipal Assemblies towards citizens, public institutions, other partners, international organizations and means of public information.
