The International Conference on Local Self-Governance will be organized for the third time in Kosovo under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government Administration in the municipality of Prishtinë/Priština, Prizren, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica dhe Novobërdë/Novo Brdo, which will be attended by high political representatives from Kosovo, Croatia, Slovenia, Northern Ireland, Macedonia, Montenegro and experts from the region and beyond.
The International Conference on Local Self-Governance will be organized for the third time in Kosovo under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government Administration in the municipality of Prishtinë/Priština, Prizren, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica dhe Novobërdë/Novo Brdo, which will be attended by high political representatives from Kosovo, Croatia, Slovenia, Northern Ireland, Macedonia, Montenegro and experts from the region and beyond.
The Conference will start on 14 September at 10:00 hrs, and will be held in New Government building (former Rilindja building) in Prishtinë/Priština , while on 15 September in the municipality of Prizren, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica dhe Novobërdë/Novo Brdo.
The Conference will be attended by: Mr. Nevzat Bejta, Minister of Local Government in the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Boris Milošević, Deputy Minister of Administration in the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Ferdinand Pone, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Albania, Zorna Janković, Mayor of Ljubljana, Koce Trajanovski, Mayor of Skoplje and other representatives from the regional countries and beyond.
The Conference will be also attended by the political representatives of Kosovo (international diplomatic missions in Kosovo): Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaqi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Slobodan Petrović, U.S. ambassador to the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Tracey Ann Jacobson, EU representative in Kosovo Mr. Samuel Žbogar, Head of the International Office in Kosovo Mr. Pieter Feith, deputies of the Kosovo Assembly, ministers, representatives from the donor community, Mayors and representatives of the civil society.
The organization of the International Conference on Local Self-Governance and Exhibition of Municipalities is characterized by local government reform in Kosovo such as the advancement of legislation, local government strategy and the establishment of new municipalities.
The achievements in the field of local governance in the country impose mobilization and institutional will to promote one of the areas of interest for the country and its citizen, such as the affirmation of the values and achievements in the field of local government in conformity with European standards.
Experts and organizations profiled in local government will present and share experiences and best practices and forms of government focused on providing services closer to citizens.
The joint discussion and exchange of regional experiences and best practices between local self-government institutions with aspirations towards the EU will be focused on three main topics: I. Local Legislative and Administrative Framework and IIII. Need to build a European Local Democracy and III. Local Resources – Local Priorities
The Exhibition of Municipalities will be organized under the framework of the International Conference on Local Self-Governance on September 14 at 14:00 hrs in the Youth Palace in Prishtinë/Priština.
The municipalities of Kosovo will present works that are characterized by traditions and historical organization and national values in Kosovo.
