The Ministry of Local Government Administration with the support of the USAID’s project "Advancing Kosovo Together" has organised a two day workshop on the promotion and protection of human rights, in particular the protection of community rights.
The meeting was attended by representatives of MLGA, USAID and 20 municipalities, such as: Deputy Mayors, coordinators of human rights, members of the Communities Committee and officials from the Office of Communities and Return.
The workshop was chaired by Mr. Avni Sahiti, Head of the Department for Municipal Performance and Transparency and Ms. Amy Denkenberger, USAID Advancing Kosovo Together (AKT) Program Director. The Law on Anti-Discrimination no. 05 / L-21, Law on Gender Equality no. 05 / L-20, Law on Ombudsman no. 05 / L-19 and local mechanisms for the protection of communities were presented at this meeting by the officials of the Division for Promotion of Human Rights in Municipalities.
The workshop on "Rights of Communities in Kosovo" was organised to promote the legal infrastructure, which is in compliance with the constitutional and international instruments. The workshop has got officials acquainted to the new changes, achievements and challenges of the legislation following the adoption of the legal package for human rights.
