MARIC AND JEVTIC WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND RETURN

Minister of Local Government Ljubomir Maric and Minister of Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic met today in Pristina with  the delegation of the Council of Europe led by the head of the Council of Europe Office in Pristina, Isabelle Servoz – Gallucci where they  spoke on the rights of non-majority people and return to Kosovo.

Minister of Local Government Ljubomir Maric and Minister of Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic met today in Pristina with  the delegation of the Council of Europe led by the head of the Council of Europe Office in Pristina, Isabelle Servoz – Gallucci where they  spoke on the rights of non-majority people and return to Kosovo.

Maric and Jevtic said during the meeting stressed out  a number of problems faced by non-majority nations in Kosovo, which largely affect the daily lives of citizens, particularly of non-majority nation. Special emphasis in  today’s meeting was on the implementation of laws relating to rights in the sense of positive discrimination of non-majority nation, but also of basic human rights such as the right to freedom of movement and Return.

Ministers Maric and Jevtic briefed the delegation about the processes that are important for the survival of non-majority nation in Kosovo, where  was stressed that it is necessary that the laws passed by the Kosovo Assembly  be adopted taking into account the views of the political representatives of the Serbs, which lately has not been the case when laws were adopted on Trepca, verification of assets and strategic investments that result may have impact on the lives and survival of people from the ranks of non-majority nation.

The meeting particularly emphasized the need to form the Association of Serbian Municipalities not only due to the fact that it6 was one of the agreements reached in Brussels, but because of the need to be in a positive way that will provide a mechanism  which to Serbs and other peoples in Kosovo, help in segments that are important for everyday life and therefore the return process but also the survival of non-majority nation.

At the end of the meeting, the ministers underlined once again that dialogue and cooperation is the only way of solving problems and expressed readiness that as political representatives of the Serbs on  all the issues and problems talk with political representatives of the majority people in Kosovo, but that that conversation be  essential and not formal.
