Todosijevic signs an Agreement with UNDP for establishment of an internal control system and increase of transparency within MLGA  

 

Prishtina, 9 August 2018

Today, Minister of Ministry of Local Government Administration Mr. Ivan Todosijevic, hosted in a meeting the Resident Representative of UNDP in Kosovo Mrs. Ulrika Richardson.

Minister Todosijevic thanked the Resident Representative of UNDP in Kosovo Mrs. Richardson, for the support provided over the years for MLGA and the Municipalities with the aim of advancing and strengthening institutional capacities, as well as increasing the transparency of their work.

The Resident Representative of UNDP in Kosovo Mrs. Ulrika Richardson thanked Minister Todosijevic for his hospitality and the cooperation so far between Kosovo’s institutions and UNDP.

Minister Todosijevic emphasized that the aim of the Ministry is to improve the internal control and to increase transparency with the aim of reducing internal irregularities, while supplementing the role of the National Audit Office (NAO), strengthening accountability, transparency and institutional efficiency, as well as inspiring other ministries and municipalities in following this example. Additionally, internal controls should not be used only as an instrument for preventing irregularities and ensuring compliance of the laws and regulations, but they should be used also to improve the systematic institutional functioning, especially related to efficiency and effectiveness, and on the other hand also regarding capacities and institutional performance.

Hence, Minister Todosijevic and Mrs. Richardson signed a Memorandum of Understanding that provides and enables the establishment of an internal control system and increase of transparency within MLGA.

In concluding the meeting, Minister Todosijevic thanked cordially Mrs. Richardson for the fruitful cooperation and the support provided.
