MLGA and the World Bank held a coordination meeting on local economic development

Today, during the day, the Ministry of Local Government Administration held a meeting with the World Bank where the main topic was local economic development. In this regard, the World Bank is assisting 10 municipalities in the Republic of Kosovo with a fund of 1.71 million dollars where about 200 projects for young people from marginalized groups will be financed.

Minister of MLGA Elbert Krasniqi thanked the representative of this program from the World Bank Mrs. Janelle Plummer. He expressed readiness that the ministry will guarantee the integrity of the process for distribution of this fund to 10 municipalities, and that they are open for further cooperation between the ministry and the World Bank.

Mrs. Plummer highlighted the importance that the support of public institutions has in implementing World Bank projects in Kosovo, especially those related to economic recovery and strengthening the private sector. Therefore, she provided details about a $ 20 million program that the World Bank is ready to provide to the ministry for sustainable local development.

Minister Krasniqi offered his support and that of the MLGA for the implementation of such a program, taking into account the priorities of the ministry that are the management of the COVID – 19 pandemic, respectively the negative impact that this pandemic has caused in the public and private sector at the local level.
