Today, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, together with the Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Elbert Krasniqi held a virtual meeting with the Mayors of the Republic of Kosovo for the purpose of inter-institutional coordination in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister Vitia informed the Mayors about the updated epidemiological situation and the course of the vaccination process.
He emphasized that this week a load of about 100 thousand doses is expected through the COVAX Alliance. Therefore, in the coming months we can vaccinate the population most at risk.
Considering that the impact of COVID-19, which in addition to public health, has an impact also to the economy and highlighting the importance of the Diaspora visit in Kosovo, it is extremely important that we manage to vaccinate as many citizens as possible by summer.
The Mayors were informed that preparations and planning are being made for the new action plan. This process cannot be realized without close cooperation with the municipalities of Kosovo, with special emphasis on the Mayors and Municipal Emergency Staffs and therefore Minister Vitia required their commitment and the support of the municipal capacities of the Directorates of Health and Social Protection and the Main Family Medicine Centers.
Also in accordance with the recommendations of NIPHK and health experts, Minister Vitia emphasized that according to the epidemiological analysis, they are planning to facilitate preventive measures in line with situation in the field, always trying to balance public health and the economy.
