The Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, together with the Head of the OSCE Mission, the Ambassador, Michael Davenport and the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Yll Buleshkaj, have handed certificates of appreciation for the Municipalities that have drafted and approved Integrity Plans.
In his speech, Minister Krasniqi emphasized the importance of this process, mentioning that “The integrity of public institutions is one of the most important principles of good governance. Efforts for integrity, transparency and accountability should not only be plans but they should be a practical guide to our daily work”.
Also, the OSCE Ambassador, Michael Davenport said “I am satisfied that the OSCE has been able to support MLGA and the municipalities in this process, because it is an important tool for stopping corruption and other unethical phenomena, but also for providing better services to citizens”.
As a result of initiatives and joint cooperation, certificates of appreciation were handed to 20 municipalities: Kamenica, Skenderaj, Prizren, Viti, Hani Elezit, Gllogoc, Peja, Gjakova, Obiliq, Malisheva, Suhareka, Lipjan, Junik, Rahovec, Kacanik, Decan, Dragash, Istog Vushtrri, and South Mitrovica which have already drafted and approved this plan.
Drafting the integrity plan is an obligation that arises from the legislation in force as well as the “State Anti-Corruption Strategy 2021-2023”. In addition to legal obligations, the drafting of municipal plans is and has been one of the priorities which has taken an important place in the reports of the European Commission for Kosovo for many years.
