Minister Krasniqi meets the Director of the Kosovo Peace Corps Carolyne Siganda

Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, Mr. Elbert Krasniqi, received in an introductory meeting the Director of the Peace Corps in Kosovo, Mrs. Carolyne Siganda, the Programming and Training Director Ms. Brenda Dean and the Program Manager Mrs. Merita Fehmiu.
Minister Krasniqi, welcomed Mrs. Siganda and congratulated her on taking up the new position of Director of the Peace Corps for Kosovo. In this regard, Minister Krasniqi informed the participants about the actions he has taken during this year in order to improve the legal framework for local self-government, including amending the Law on Local Self-Government, the draft Law on Municipal Performance and the draft Law on Local Government Finance.
Also, in order to provide financial assistance to municipalities, work is being done on the 4th grant, as a greater opportunity for the implementation of municipal projects based on priority needs. Digitalization of municipal services through e-Municipalities platform will facilitate and provide faster access to services for citizens in municipalities.
The Director of the Peace Corps in Kosovo, Mrs. Carolyne Siganda, thanked Minister Krasniqi for this meeting, emphasizing that this meeting will serve as an opportunity to continue their efforts, in the context of taking joint actions for the good of municipalities and citizens of all communities. Over the years, the Peace Corps has managed to build and cultivate an excellent cooperation with the MLGA, where through its volunteers located in municipalities, provided the good energy, experience, education and training needed for municipal officials and citizens. The Peace Corps has also provided support to the MLGA in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as provided assistance to communities to adapt to the new reality.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Krasniqi once again thanked Mrs. Siganda for the support provided, as well as the willingness to continue further cooperation, in terms of providing new opportunities for municipalities and improving the lives of citizens.
