Ministry of Local Government Administration in cooperation with the organizations of the civil society have held today the meeting of the Consultative Forum for Local Government. The purpose of the meeting was discussion about the issues that affect the advancement of local government and that are related to the work, mission and scope of the ministry and civil society organizations.
In the meeting Mrs. Venera Çerkini Deputy Secretary General of MLGA highlighted the role of the Local Consultative Forum and the contribution of the Forum and the MLGA during these years, either through advocating or through participation in the working groups and which continue to be active in various areas of local government.
She also emphasized that the forum along with the performance grant has been mentioned as progress in the Country Progress Report for 2021 by the European Commission, which shows a ‘success story’ and a model for other institutions.
During the meeting were also discussed topics about the establishment and functioning of local councils in municipalities, ex-post evaluation of the law on allocation for use and exchange of municipal property and draft administrative instruction for inter-municipal cooperation and local democracy.
This meeting is the first meeting for 2022 of the Consultative Forum for Local Government and is supported by the non-governmental organization Syri i Vizionit.
