At the invitation of the Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe, the Peja Regional Center on June 8, 2021 has held a workshop with the Chairmen and members of the municipal assemblies of the Dukagjini region regarding “Consolidation of the municipal legislature”.
In this activity was discussed about the performance of municipal assembly bodies during the 4 (four) year term, while highlighting the exercise of their supervisory role for holding accountable the municipal executives, and the implementation of financial and strategic documents of the municipality.
The Ministry of Local Government Administration in this meeting e was represented by Driton Xhafa who made a presentation on “The role of cooperation with supervisory authorities and limitations of decision-making” during the last part of the mandate of municipal bodies with special emphasis on the assembly (as a legislative body).
Good practices and recommendations will serve the future composition of the legislature, as a basis for advancing the effective work of the legislature municipalities, and in particular its oversight role of the executive work will enable control and balance at the local level.
