Speak up! Do something, STOP human trafficking!
MLG participated in the opening of the campaign of the Conference organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs/National Authority Against Trafficking in Human Beings, which was launched by the Minister Mr. Agim Veliu, while participants were also the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Thaçi, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hoti, as well as the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative Mr. Szunyog.
During this ceremony it was emphasized that referring to the statistics of the recent years in the Republic of Kosovo there is a decrease in cases of human trafficking and this has come as a result of the work of Kosovo institutions. “For almost two decades, the prevention of human trafficking has been a priority task of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, which has fulfilled its commitment to eliminate this phenomenon with numerous measures, also appointing a national coordinator against human trafficking and the creation of the National Authority Against Trafficking in Human Beings since 2008”.
In the Conference have been also presented statistics for the period January-September 2020, such as: identification of 11 victims of human trafficking, arrest of 59 persons suspected of criminal offenses of trafficking and offenses related to trafficking, as well as 18 criminal reports.
The Anti-Trafficking Campaign will last one month and aims to raise citizens’ awareness and raise awareness on this phenomenon.
