Ministry of Local Government Administration, participated in the joint consultative meeting of the National Authority against Human Trafficking, in order to coordinate and organize better the responsible representatives, regarding the visit of the Evaluation Experts of the European Commission.
The mission program will include meetings with senior officials from all respective law enforcement agencies, representatives of ministries, National Human Rights Coordinator, the prosecution representatives, Courts, Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the Coordinators for preparing of the new strategy on Human Rights. As well as representatives of international organizations and civil society organizations.
The experts will assess the capacities of the competent institutions responsible for the field of human trafficking. The assessment will take into account the priorities of the EU policies on human trafficking, defined in the Communique of 2017, enhancing EU action in addressing Trafficking in Human Beings (THB) and relevant information included in reports and studies published within the framework of the EU legislation and policies on trafficking of human beings. The collegial assessment in question is made in the context of the Stabilization and Association Agreement between the EU and Kosovo (especially Article 87).
In Kosovo, the assessment of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), implemented by the experts of Council of Europe in 2015, has presented several recommendations to the Kosovo authorities, while including but not limited to: improved measures aimed for the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian community; better birth registration and better personal documentation; facilitation of the reintegration of the victims and ensuring their access to compensation; improved confiscation of human trafficking-related assets and improved use of witness protection.
The visit is organized and financed by the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) of the European Commission.
