Deputy Head of the Division for the Advancement of Human Rights in the municipalities of the MLG, Mrs. Luljeta Ibishi Ferizi, participated in the first meeting of the Technical Group for Protection from Discrimination of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Communities, chaired by Mr. Habit Hajredini, Director of the Office for Good Governance / Office of the Prime Minister.
On 11.09.2020 the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo has issued a decision with no. 138/2020 on the Establishment of the Technical Group for Protection from Discrimination of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Communities, after the regional meeting in October 2020 on Roma integration by state participants in the Western Balkans. The meeting took place in the framework of the Berlin Process and the adoption of the Declaration of the Western Balkan Partners on Roma Integration, at last year’s summit of Western Balkan leaders in Poznan, Poland.
The competencies of the Technical Group are to cooperate with the responsible institutions to address the complaints from members of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities for discrimination against them, as well as processing these cases to the competent institutions, carrying out public awareness activities to prevent discrimination against members of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, etc.
In the first meeting of the group were discussed the responsibilities of the group, setting priorities and the calendar of meetings, cooperation with responsible institutions and public awareness activities.
The meeting was supported by the Roma Integration Project organized by the Office of Good Governance/Office of the Prime Minister, held virtually through the Zoom platform.
