Acting Head of the Division for the Advancement of Human Rights in the municipalities of the MLG, Mrs. Luljeta Ibishi Ferizi participated in the two-day conference through the Zoom platform on December 15 and 16, to continue with the activities that will be organized in the coming months and that will end in September 202, organized by NDI Kosovo.
Week of Women (WOW) is an annual event organized at the national level that brought together more than 120 women and men from political parties, civil society, business, media and academia, with the aim of building the existing capacities of women leaders aiming for higher leadership positions. The conference began with discussions on the opportunities and challenges for women in politics in the digital age, under the general motto “Changing the Face of Politics: The time is now!”. The problems the democratic world is facing today in relation to women’s advancement in politics: the challenges of women in the digital age, and the need for their inclusion in leadership positions, were discussed in five different panels.
Overcoming the socio-economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, women’s opportunities in the upcoming local elections, their role in conflict resolution processes, youth inclusion and women’s achievements in Kosovo, were discussed in seven different sessions, on the second day. Among the issues discussed at this meeting were international instruments and mechanisms for gender equality , including the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, etc.
