MLGA conducted a working visit to the Municipality of Leposavic

Representatives of the Ministry of Local Government Administration have conducted a working visit to the Municipality of Leposavic, as part of the activities to support municipalities in advancing human rights and building the capacities of municipal officials.

The MLGA team was received by the Director of Administration, Mirjana Miladinović, the Chief of the Cabinet of the Mayor, Marko Milenković, and the Legal Officer, Florije Ademi.

During the meeting, the obligations and responsibilities of the municipality in the field of protection and advancement of human rights were discussed, with particular emphasis on the creation and functioning of municipal mechanisms for the protection of children’s rights, including the establishment of the Child Rights Team.

The municipality’s needs for building the professional capacities of municipal officials, as well as the possibilities for systematizing positions and structures responsible for human rights, were also addressed. In this context, the need to make the unit functional or appoint an officer such as: a child rights officer, a gender equality officer and other relevant mechanisms was discussed, in accordance with the legislation and responsibilities of the local level.

The meeting also identified areas in which additional support from the MLGA is needed, especially in organizing training, providing professional advice and strengthening municipal mechanisms.

From the Ministry of Local Government Administration, the meeting was attended by Luljeta Ibishi Ferizi, Senior Officer for Human Rights in Municipalities, Hamit Fazliu, Senior Officer, and Nazlije Berisha, Officer for Capacity Development at the Local Level.

The MLGA will continue its cooperation and support for the municipality of Leposaviq, with the aim of strengthening institutional capacities, fulfilling legal obligations and advancing the protection for human rights at the local level.
