The MLGA Deputy Head of the Division for the Advancement of Human Rights in the Municipalities, Mrs. Luljeta Ibishi Ferizi, participated in the online conference with the topic Inclusion in political processes: Preventing and combating violence against women in politics, organized by NDI Kosovo, speaker: Nita Bicurri.
Women’s Week is an annual event organized at the national level that brought together more than 120 women and men from political parties, civil society, business, media and academia during 2020 and 2021, in order to build the existing capacity of women leaders aiming for higher leadership positions. In this conference was presented and discussed the goal of women for equal representation in politics, society and the public arena, as women face formal and informal barriers to their participation in politics, one of them is violence against women in politics.
Also, referring to the latest reports conducted by the NDI office in Kosovo, on gender and misinformation and the global NDI campaign #NotTheCost, this conference with regards to local elections 2021, provided relevant information to participants on violence against women in politics with an emphasis on violence against women through social media, the presence of this phenomenon and ways to prevent and combat it.
