Ministry of Local Government Administration in cooperation with the municipality, on May 14, 2014 has organized a consultative meeting in region of Gjilan/Gnjiljane regarding the Strategy on Local Self-Government 2015-2015, headed by the Secretary General of MLGA, Mr. Besnik Osmani. This was the second meeting, foreseen within consultative meetings with regions of Kosovo on the Strategy for Local Self-Government 2015-2025. The idea and purpose of organizing this meeting was that participants to be familiarized more closely with the first draft of the Strategy on Local Self-Government 2015 – 2025, which was initially compiled as the draft by officials of MLGA and in the coming weeks, will be held other consultations with this region and other regions, in order that all regions be geographically included in discussions for the Strategy on Local Self-Government 2015-2025.
During the presentation of the Strategy on Local Self-Government 2015 – 2025, the way of drafting of the methodology of work in the SLSG was presented to the participants and the background / context, strategic orientations in which are supposed that local governance goes on, the action strategies, the alternative approach of the action, challenges that local governance is facing and steps of the implementation of the SVL, including here actors involved, respectively suggestions and comments that would be involved in the Strategy of Local Self-Government..
At the meeting, except the officials MLGA, also the mayor of Gjilan, Mr. Haziri held a speech, which thanked the participants for their presence and stressed that this document is very necessary even though a bit late. It is time that municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo should have a territorial and administrative reorganization and then the categorization of the municipalities where according to their size should have their competencies, which is practical even in many EU countries conform principles of the European Charter of the Local Self-Government..
Except Mr. Hazir, the invited participants have taken the word, which raised the issues that had to do with local governance in general as well as the document, (Strategy on Local Self-Government 2015-2025). At the end of the meeting was highlighted by the panelists that all participants have the right to give comment on official addresses of the DEIPC Leaders, in order to take comments into account, suggestions or objections of all concerned actors, and to move on, with finalizing of the Strategy on Local Self-Government 2015-2025
