Deputy Minister of Ministry of Local Government Administration Mr. Beqir Fejzullahu participated today in the meeting of the Executive Councils at the Community Safety Forum of the Republic of Kosovo, organized by Ministry of Internal Affairs and supported by OSCE.
In this meeting was presented the summary report with the findings and conclusions related to the assessment of the operational capacities of the community safety forums in all municipalities as a result of eight roundtables organized during this year at Kosovo level.
Therefore, the Deputy Minister Fejzullahu emphasized that “The Ministry of Local Government Administration as supervisory body, supports and monitors the Municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo based on its legal mandate and the main laws on Local Governance as well as the Appendix XII of the Regulation 02/2011 on the Areas of Administrative responsibility of the Office of the Prime Minister, at the end of each calendar year drafts the Report on the Operation of the Municipalities, which includes also the work of MCSC.
The establishment of MCSC is based on the law on Police, whereas the procedures of establishment, composition, functioning and obligation of MCSC are specified by the Administrative Instruction No. 27/2012 MIA and AI 32012 MLGA.
The Municipal Community Safety Councils though this document are aiming to increase the awareness of the Municipal Officials about the influence that the social formal and informal control tools have in creating a quiet and secure environment for citizens.
MCSC is established in 34 Municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, whereas these Councils have not been established in four municipalities: North Mitrovica, South Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic.
Furthermore the Deputy Minister Fejzullahu said that the Ministry of Local Government Administration in the future based on its supportive role and in accordance with the strategic objectives of local self-governance, will engage in supporting the Municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo for the work progress of the MCSC.
