Prishtina, 28 of May, 2019.
Minister of Local Government Administration Hodžić and her cabinet hosted yesterday Assistant Secretary-General for Europe, Central Asia and Americas in the United Nations Department of Political Affairs and Peace Operations Miroslav Jenča and the Special Representative of the Secretary General and Head of the UNMIK Zahir Tanin as well as other members of their delegation.
In addition to the members of the Cabinet of Minister Hodžić, Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs Milan Radojević was also present at the meeting.
At the very beginning, Minister Hodžić informed the Assistant Secretary General Jenča on previous cooperation with the UN and UNMIK, led by Special Representative of Secretary General Tanin, through various projects implemented throughout Kosovo and who gave positive results in the field of trust building, coexistence, women’s rights, and fight against violence towards women, and through projects to support young people.
In addition to all the challenges that Kosovo society faces today, Minister Hodžić stressed the importance of supporting cohabitation, since respecting the communities is the only way to build bridges of trust.
Challenges were also considered when it comes to cooperation between central and local authorities. One of the topics discussed was the security situation.
UN Assistant Secretary General Jenča expressed his readiness to support the United Nations agencies in fields of co-existence, economic development, security, promotion of women and young people in Kosovo.
In the end, the participants of the meeting agreed that the continuation of cooperation in the future is necessary in order to improve the living conditions of the citizens of Kosovo regardless of their ethnic and religious affiliation.
