Cooperation for the new phase of the Performance Grant for the period 2022-2025, drafting of the new law based on the Municipal Performance Grant and other topics of common interest were the key points of discussion between representatives from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and donors from the Municipal Performance Grant.
In the meeting the representatives from the Government of Kosovo were the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Besnik Bislimi, the Minister of Local Government Administration Mr. Elbert Krasniqi and the Minister of Finance Mr. Hekuran Murati.
Whereas the representatives from donors that co-finance the Performance Grant were the Swiss Ambassador in Republic of Kosovo, his Excellency Mr. Thomas Kolly, representative from the Sweden Embassy, representatives from the Norwegian Embassy as well as EU Office in Kosovo.
The Municipal Performance Grant aims to encourage competition between municipalities in Kosovo by allocating means based on meritocracy and clear criteria.
This grant has received high marks in the progress report and is seen as a model which should be expanded and institutionalized within the government.
The program is co-financed by MLGA, EU Office in Kosovo, the Swiss, Sweden and Norwegian Embassy, and is foreseen to have an amount of over 34 million euros for next 4 years while not including the technical assistance.
