Yesterday, on 12 February 2019, under the organization of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, it is launched the municipal performance grant – clean environment, a co-financing between MESP, GIZ and European Commission.
The Ministry of Local Government Administration has coordinated the activities with MESP and GIZ for the municipal performance grant – clean environment. And as such minimum criteria with be used for the process of qualification and assessment of the municipalities, as well as a system for assessment of the municipal performance.
This event marked a joint institutional effort for coordinating the activities also with donors, in order to establish a more efficient and integrated system, where municipalities benefit on a merit basis and based on concrete criteria. The purpose is to raise the accountability at local government and improve the quality of the municipal services.
