The Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi and the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide financial support to students from the Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities studying at public universities in Kosovo.
The purpose of this Memorandum is to promote education in these communities, to promote academic development, to create opportunities for students not to drop their studies due to difficult material conditions, and to create new generations of teachers and lecturers from the ranks of communities.
On this occasion, Minister Krasniqi, emphasized that this financial support will affect the increase of the educational level of these communities, whereas in order to inform them about this opportunity we should work together with civil society, schools and municipalities.
On the other hand, Minister Nagavci, after emphasizing the importance of financial support for students of these communities, also mentioned the support provided by the Ministry for school-based and community-based learning centers, as well as scholarships given to high school students for Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities.
Minister Krasniqi and Nagavci pledged that the institutions will work continuously to create equal opportunities in education of all communities living in Kosovo.
