The Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi participated in the joint roundtable with the Mayors of the municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo, the representatives from the European Union in Kosovo and the representatives from the DEMOS project to discuss the continuation of cooperation with the DEMOS Project for Municipal Performance Grant.
In his speech, Minister Krasniqi emphasized the importance of the Performance Grant and the passing of the draft law on performance and the grant in the Assembly. “Performance grant has a special place in the medium and long term priorities of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Among the measures set out in the Governing Program 2021-2025, it is envisaged to improve the performance of municipalities through the implementation of the Performance-Based Grant Scheme. In accordance with this governing program, the draft law on performance and grant has been drafted, which has now passed the first reading in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, and which has been welcomed by all represented political entities.”
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss and cooperate about the third phase of the DEMOS project 2022-2025, as well as the discussion on the operation of the municipal performance grant.
From 2018 until now, the performance grant has funded over 150 projects, worth over 14 million euros. This year, together with donors, 7.8 million euros will be allocated to municipalities that manage to meet the preconditions, based on the level of achieving the performance indicators.

Office in Kosovo, is committed to support financially another 4-year period, in the amount of close to 30 million euros, a value which will create the opportunity for the standards required under the legislation in force, to directly affect the improvement of governance and the provision of the highest quality services to citizens.
