The Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, was part of the ceremony on the occasion of the signing of memorandums of cooperation between 16 municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo and UN Women as part of the program “Transformative Financing for Gender Equality in the Western Balkans”.
In his speech Minister Krasniqi emphasized: “Gender equality it is not only a legal duty, therefore we are committed to protect, advance and fulfil it with all out governing capacities”.
Furthermore, Minister Krasniqi mentioned some of the concrete steps undertaken by MLGA in advancing the gender equality and strengthening women’s role at local level, such as the indicators established for gender equality within the municipal performance system, the continuous notification of municipalities of their legal obligations for respecting gender equality and the importance of gender-responsive budgeting.
In the end, Minister Krasniqi expressed his full will for the advancement of gender equality at the local level.
