With the aim to discuss the development of the local level, the Minister of Local Government Administration Elbert Krasniqi held a coordination roundtable with the Mayors of the Republic of Kosovo.
During his speech, Minister Krasniqi thanked the Mayors for the good cooperation, emphasizing their dedication and engagement in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Krasniqi has presented to the Mayors the priorities, plans and projects of the MLGA, based on the legislative agenda, with the aim of making the necessary changes to improve the functioning of the local level, to increase support/funding for municipalities through capital projects, and other projects for marginalized groups and communities as well as deepening inter-municipal and cross-border cooperation.
Additionally, Minister Krasniqi highlighted the need for digitalization and preparation for OGP membership, given the importance of increasing citizen decision-making at the local level and providing more efficient and transparent municipal services.
During the discussion, the Mayors have raised several issues related to the local level, emphasizing their readiness to continue full cooperation with the central level.
In the end, Minister Krasniqi took notice of the topics addressed by the Mayors and emphasized that such coordination roundtables will continue to be held regularly.
