At the invitation of the Council of Europe, the office in Prishtina, the Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration Elbert Krasniqi, participated in the launch of the joint program EU/CoE ROMACTED II, ‘Promoting good governance and empowering communities at the local level’.
During this organization, in his speech Minister Krasniqi emphasized that, “In all democratic countries, the municipality is the most important institution for addressing the requests of citizens, with the duty to correctly represent their needs and views, without distinction. Citizen participation, especially of vulnerable groups, is considered a complex topic, but their contribution is important for the sustainable development of democracy. Whereas, programs such as ROMACTED I, contribute to building capacities of municipalities for these citizens to actively participate in local decision-making mechanisms, through the concept of active inclusion.”
Additionally, Minister Krasniqi underlined the role of MLGA in promoting good governance and empowerment of Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities. Furthermore, he mentioned that in every MLGA initiative and program, Ashkali, Egyptian and Roma communities have an important part, with the aim to empower and include them.
