During the publication of the report ‘Municipal transparometer 2020 & Municipal transparency in retrospective’ through which were presented the findings of the level of transparency of 38 municipalities of Kosovo, based on 48 evaluation indicators selected in accordance with legal obligations and administrative instructions that regulate the work and functioning of local government institutions, as well as based on the Transparency International (IT) methodology and the multi-year practices of KDI.
Minister Krasniqi in his speech has emphasized the role of the civil society in development of state and democracy: ‘Civil society is one of the main pillars in the development of democracy and the development of the state. The civil society during these years, has contributed in having a more advanced democracy and through their critical voice have contributed in advancement of ‘active citizenship’ and reach a higher stage of development. Therefore, the publication of this report today shows the role and importance of civil society organizations in relation to local government, respectively municipal transparency.’
As part of the panel the Mayor of the Municipality of Rahovec Smajl Latifi, as well as the Mayor of the Municipality of Lipjan Imri Ahmeti, have discussed about the report on municipal transparency, and have shared their experience on this field.
At the end, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kamenica Qendron Kastrati as well as representatives of municipal level have raised several questions about the field on municipal transparency, which have been answered by the Minister Krasniqi, who explained the role of MLGA and the MLGA projects which aim to increase the transparency, accountability and the digitalization, while mentioning the initiative for membership in OGP and in the e-municipal platform, as well as two main initiatives for open government at municipal level.
