On the course of presentation of the community activities that regulate Local Governance in Kosova, today the Ministry of Local Government Administration has organized the first consultative meeting, to discuss about " Draft Strategy on Local Self-Government 2013-2016".
On the occasion of presentation of the " Strategy for Local Governance 2013-2016", Deputy Prime Minister of Kosova, also Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Slobodan Petrovic said that until the finalization of the strategy, MLGA has defined a dynamic agenda of discussions with the local and central actors, representatives of civil society and international institutions.
“During the June, MLGA will organize four (4) consultative meetings with such extensive participation in various regions of Kosova and I require from you, to suggest for discussion all matters which concerns you, so these matters will be addressed through this document"- Deputy Prime Minister has ordered the participants.
Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Petrovic said that the Kosova government is fully committed to developing the local level in three areas: for the sustainable economic development, strengthening of law enforcement and integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.
Secretary General of MLGA, Mr. Besnik Osmani has presented details of the Strategic Document, who said that after the completion of the discussions phase with the groups of interest, MLGA will prepare an action plan for implementing the strategy, whereas in September will be organized two important conferences where will be promoted Local Governance in Kosova.
"The strategy reflects the constitutional principles of the Republic of Kosova and European Charter of Local Self-Government. This strategy has as purpose continuation of reforming of local government, aiming at rapid social and economic development of Kosova "said Secretary General of MLGA, Mr. Besnik Osmani.
Secretary General of MLGA, Mr.Osmani said that in the focus of " Strategy for Local Governance 2013-2016" which has acter purposes, by which are planned Kosova municipalities’ development that are: capacity building of local administration, the possibility of increasing of the budget for municipalities, land management as well as strengthening of the citizens role against the decision -making in the municipalities.
At the meeting, where was presented "Local Governance Strategy 2013 – 2016" participated representatives of the ministries of Kosova Government, representatives from the Association of Kosovo Municipalities, Civil Society and representatives of Local and International Institutions.
Discussions for the "Local Governance Strategy 2013 – 2016" will continue during the June, on this case, MLGA will organize 4 consultative meetings, in different regions of Kosova, with participation of all groups of interest.
