Today, on July 6 2017, the Ministry of Local Government Administration in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, have organized one-day workshop on " Lessons Learned for future local governments – the experiences from mayors, elected representatives, civil society and business community”. The workshop was chaired by Mr. Visar Sutaj, whereas the workshop had as a focus: exchange of lessons learned, ideas and solutions to overcome the problems by highlighting the best practices of good governance at local level, and reviewing opportunities for joint improvements. 06.07.2017

The workshop was chaired by Mr. Visar Sutaj, whereas the workshop had as a focus: exchange of lessons learned, ideas and solutions to overcome the problems by highlighting the best practices of good governance at local level, and reviewing opportunities for joint improvements.
Secretary General, Rozafa Ukimeraj emphasized that today we have an open opportunity to discuss all the successes, progress, challenges, difficulties and mistakes, so that all these issues affect the development and advancement of local self-government. Through this dialogue we aim that from an institutional point of view, civil society, the media, businesses and donors, to contribute in developing an efficient system that works under any circumstances, regardless of the changes that may occur in terms of political and institutional representation.
Mr. Christopher Tuetsch from the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the Mayor of Junik, Agron Kuqi, praised the idea and initiative for the workshop format, in order for the discussion reached by all actors to serve the country’s overall interest.
In the second part of the workshop, five internal groups, such as: the group for transparency and participation of citizens in the decision-making process, for local economic development, local financial management , the local administration efficiency and the service delivery as well as the group for compatibility of municipal decisions, have discussed the challenges and lessons learned regarding the current state of governance..
Groups of participants from the government, municipalities, civil society, the media and the business community have presented the lessons learned based on the challenges identified, the progress achieved and the recommendations.
