Deputy Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Bajram Gecaj, accompanied by Mr. Avni Sahiti, Head of DMPT, at the invitation of the Association of Independent Intellectuals of Deçan, particiapted in a roundtable ‘Village councils and their role in local governance’ in Deçan. At this roundtable it was discussed about implementation of the Municipal Regulation for Cooperation with the villages, a higher commitment of the citizens in the process of decision making, also policy making, also increasing the level of transparency and accountability.
In his greeting speech, deputy minister Mr. Gecaj, committed through his position as deputy Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, will contribute with the commitment to development of local self-government that will directly effect on providing efficient and transparent services, and establishing policies that are in interest of all citizens.
By focusing on establishment of the village council, Deputy Minister Gecaj, said ‘MLGA has close cooperation with local institutions and invited citizens that with the same energy to continue their work and new activities, willingness to correct any deficiencies that will affect the way to improve governance, so that all joint project are implemented which aim to advance local democracy in Kosovo.
In this roundtable, organized by the Association of Independent Intellectuals, located in Deçan, and supported by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo, also present were Municipal officials from the municipality of Deçan, Chairman and AM, civil society representatives and the Chairman of the villages of this municipality, where there was also discussion from the attendees.
