The Ministry of Local Government Administration in cooperation with the USAID Advancing Kosovo Together (AKT) has organised the roundtable "Municipal transparency – results, challenges and opportunities for improvement".
Ms. Rozafa Ukimeraj, Acting General Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Administration said that MLGA continues to prioritize the enhancement of transparency in municipalities and create best practices regarding access to public documents, information of citizens in their official languages, publication of documents in the official languages and participation of citizens in decision-making processes. Furthermore, Ms. Ukimeraj has added that MLGA has drafted sub-legal acts, manuals and development plans in order to enhance transparency in municipalities and develop policies for citizen participation in decision-making processes at the local level.
Meanwhile, Mr. Avni Sahiti, Head of the Department for Municipal Performance and Transparency has invited municipalities to continue their cooperation in order to promote transparency, fulfil legal obligations established by legislation and meet all the obligations derived from the progress report.
Moreover, Ms. Nazmije Krasniqi, Head of the Division for Municipal Transparency has made a presentation on the publication of documents in the official languages in the official websites of municipalities.
The representatives of the Legal Department of the MLGA has answered to the questions made by the participants regarding the challenges that they face in meeting the legal obligations.
This roundtable was attended by: representatives from MLGA, Chairpersons of MAs, spokesmen of municipalities, representatives from civil society and USAID.
