The delegation from Jordan headed by Minister of Internal Affairs and SH.T.Z Salameh Hammad has visited today the Ministry of Local Government Administration, where was received by Deputy Minister of MLGA, Mr. Bajram Gecaj and Secretary General of MLGA, Ms. Rozafa Ukimeraj.
At the meeting with delegation of Jordan, Deputy Minister Gecaj presented the work of local government before and after the independence of Kosovo and implementation of the process of decentralization as well as other political developments in the country, namely after independence of Kosovo.
Deputy Minister, Gecaj said that the process of decentralization in Kosovo was characterized by two aspects, legal aspect that is oriented in the transfer of competencies from the central to the local level and the reform of local administration as well as political aspect that includes strategies for overcoming and resolving the concerns of minority communities by ensuring a high level of self-regulation at the local level in a wider degree of governance about issues of local character.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Jordan, Mr. SH.TZ Salameh Hammad expressed his satisfaction for the visit in Kosovo and information exchanged by institutions of Kosovo, emphasized that it is important to exchange information on local government reform and the decentralization process, between two states.
At the meeting of Jordan delegation, Deputy Minister Gecaj said that Kosovo institutions have undertaken a number of actions as in terms of creating the legal infrastructure, in order to guarantee municipalities a greater autonomy, and in the progress for the transfer and delegation of competencies from the central to local level.
Secretary General of Local Government Administration, Ms. Rozafa Ukimeraj informed the delegation from the Jordan for the actual work of the Ministry of Local Government Administration in advancement of local government in Kosovo.
