Funded by the European Union, and implemented by the European Council, was held the second meeting of the Steering Board of regional project “Promotion of human rights and minority support in Eastern Europe”.
At this meeting was attended by representatives from regional countries such as Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Local Government Administration, Mr. Bajram Gecaj has said that in the state of Kosova, the equal treatment of minorities is provided by the Constitution and other legal and strategic acts, already approved but with all commitments and obligations realized, still remains to be done in this direction. “The project has access to the local level and aims at improving the life of citizens in the municipality. What we need more, is exactly the concrete support of the people on the ground, aiming their non-discrimination because of certain minorities “-said Deputy Minister, Mr. Gecaj.
Deputy Minister, Bajram Gecaj said that the project is intended to help Kosova to eliminate barriers for persons belonging to minorities in four municipalities, which are elected to be funded by ministry, but also in strengthening the administrative capacity of municipal staff, who are responsible for the design and implementation of policies for the protection of minorities.
At this meeting of Steering Board of the regional project ” Promotion of the human rights and the minority support in Eastern Europe have participated representatives from regional countries, such as: Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.
