Within the framework of reintegration of repatriated persons and institutional coordination between central and local level, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Slobodan Petrovic, the Minister for European Integration, Ms. Vlora Çitaku and Minister of Interior, Mr. Bajram Rexhepi have met the municipal representatives of the municipal offices for return and communities and European integration.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government Administration, Mr. Slobodan Petrovic has said that "municipalities have an important role in the process of reintegration, and that reintegration and repatriation are the main paths towards visa liberalization and moreover the municipal offices for communities and return play an important role in this process".
In order to develop the reintegration process in a successful way and without budgetary implications, the Deputy Prime Minister Petrovic has informed that the Government of Kosova has allocated 3.5 million Euros for the realization of this process.
The Deputy Prime Minister Petrovic has requested from the municipal officials to prepare exact data with regards to the statistics on the repatriated persons, in order to realize this process on the basis of factual and correct reporting from the municipalities themselves.
The Deputy Prime Minister Petrovic has said that the Ministry of Local Government Administration shall offer continual support to municipalities in the process of repatriation and that Ministry will be at the disposal of municipalities with all capacities in order to implement this process successfully.
Whereas, the Ministry for European Integration, Ms. Vlora Çitaku has said that the reintegration of repatriated person is an important process for Kosovo and it is related to the visa liberalization and agreement of Kosovo for free trade with EU. Moreover, Ms. Çitaku has requested from the municipal officials to set the reintegration process as an important priority for municipalities and to work with serious commitment in this direction.
While talking about the importance that municipalities have in the reintegration of repatriated persons, the Minister of Interior Mr. Bajram Rexhepi has said that municipality is the main destination of repatriated persons and hence high dedication of municipalities is needed in this direction.
While pointing out the special importance of the repatriation process, Mr. Rexhepi has said that reintegration of repatriated persons is of national and political interest to the country.
