Prishtina, July 15, 2026 – On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Agency (APA), a discussion panel was organized on the topic “Data Transparency – Foundation of Democracy and Independent Assessments”, during which the Open Data platform of the APA was also launched.
In this panel, the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA) was represented by Ms. Mimoza Karameta, from the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Division, who emphasized the importance of open data in advancing transparency, accountability and open governance.
She assessed that the Open Data platform constitutes an important step towards increasing citizens’ access to information of public interest, contributing to strengthening trust between institutions and citizens, as well as improving the monitoring of public policies by the media, civil society and the academic community.
During the discussion, Ms. Karameta emphasized that the development of this platform is in line with the commitments foreseen in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Action Plan 2026–2028, where advancing transparency through the publication of open data has been identified as one of the main priorities. She also encouraged other public institutions to follow this practice, expanding the publication of open data and strengthening the culture of institutional transparency.
From the perspective of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), it was emphasized that the publication of open data not only provides access to information, but also creates opportunities for greater citizen participation, independent monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.
In conclusion, Ms. Karameta underlined that “Transparency is not just an institutional obligation. Transparency is a relationship of trust between institutions and citizens, and open data is the language through which this trust is built.”
