The Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, participated in a panel organized by the Council of Europe – Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. During his address, he emphasized the importance of strengthening local self-government and cooperation between the central and local levels.
Discussions at the event focused on fiscal decentralization, administrative autonomy, capacity building for municipalities, and creating greater opportunities for citizen participation in decision-making.
Minister Krasniqi also highlighted that the Local Self-Government Strategy 2027–2031—currently being drafted by the Ministry with the support of the Council of Europe—will place the citizen at the center, and aim for more transparent, professional, and accountable local governance.
Ongoing cooperation among central institutions, municipalities, and our partners is essential to turning this vision into concrete results.
