Dragash, November 4, 2026

As part of the national campaign against human trafficking, namely the prevention pillar, the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA), through the Senior Officer for Human Rights in Municipalities, Luljeta Ibishi Ferizi, in coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and in cooperation with local institutions, the Kosovo Police, at the invitation of the Officer for Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination in the Municipality of Dragash, Lindita Kozmaqi Piraj, has conducted an information session at the Primary and Lower Secondary School (SHFMU) “Ulina”, in Kosava, Municipality of Dragash.

The activity aimed to raise awareness among 8th and 9th-grade students regarding the forms and risks of human trafficking, the exploitation of children, online safety, and the importance of reporting suspicious incidents.

Representatives of the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit in Prizren, Sergeant Labinot Ibrahimi and Investigator Shyhrete Morina, contributed to the session, while the participation of Nazmije Demolli Kastrati, Human Rights Officer in the Municipality of Kamenica, enabled the exchange of experiences and good inter-municipal practices.

During the visit, issues related to the movement and migration of students within and outside Kosovo were also discussed, as well as the importance of informing and protecting children in local communities.

As part of its role in the prevention pillar, the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA) continues to support the involvement of municipalities in awareness-raising campaigns, while emphasizing the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and the organization of information sessions in schools, with the goal of strengthening both the prevention of issues and the protection of children.

The MLGA extends special thanks to Lindita Kozmaqi Piraj for the invitation and cooperation; to school principal Behar Guri and the teaching staff for their hospitality; and to the representatives of the Kosovo Police and the official from the Municipality of Kamenica for their contributions to the realization of this activity.

The campaign conveys the message “TRAFFICKING AFFECTS EVERYONE! LET US PROTECT OURSELVES AND OUR CHILDREN!”, under the slogan “DO NOT REMAIN SILENT!”, calling for awareness, shared responsibility, and the reporting of suspected cases of human trafficking.
