The team of the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA), as part of activities to support and strengthen the capacities of municipalities, held a meeting with officials of the Municipality of Istog, with the aim of discussing issues of importance for the functioning of local administration, inter-municipal and international cooperation, human rights, European integration and institutional capacity building.
The team was received by the Chairman of the Municipal Assembly, Mr. Enver Rugova, the representative of the Legal Office, Mr. Afrim Metaj, the Human Rights Officer, Ms. Vlora Gjoci, the Human Resources Officer, Ms. Fjolla Berisha, as well as the Legal Officer for Legal Property Issues, Mr. Blerim Ukaj.
From the MLGA, the meeting was organized by the Department for Local Democracy and Inter-Municipal Cooperation (DLDIMC), with the participation of representatives of the Division for Inter-Municipal Cooperation, Ms. Shehide Krasniqi Fejza, the Division for Human Rights, Ms. Luljeta Ibishi Ferizi, the Division for European Integration, represented by Ms. Manushaqe Mucaj, the Division for Capacity Building, represented by Ms. Ganimete Salihu.
During the meeting, the Division for Inter-Municipal Cooperation presented opportunities for strengthening cooperation between municipalities, exchanging experiences and good practices, as well as initiatives for reaching cooperation agreements between municipalities with the aim of advancing cooperation and implementing projects of common interest. Also, it was discussed about the possibilities of involving the Municipality of Istog in international cooperation projects and programs, strengthening partnerships with municipalities and institutions abroad, as well as the importance of reporting on activities and results achieved within the framework of these collaborations.
The Human Rights Division discussed the implementation and promotion of human rights at the local level, the establishment of mechanisms in the field of gender equality, non-discrimination, persons with disabilities, the Child Rights Team, as well as the importance of reporting on activities and measures undertaken by municipalities in this area.
The Division for European Integration provided information and support regarding the European integration process at the local level, the involvement of municipalities in relevant initiatives and programs, as well as the importance of reporting on activities that contribute to the fulfillment of objectives within the framework of this process.
The Capacity Building Division presented opportunities for supporting the municipality in the professional and institutional development of local administration, identifying training needs and strengthening the capacities of municipal officials, while simultaneously encouraging the exchange and presentation of good practices.
The meeting emphasized the importance of coordination between the MLGA and the municipality, the exchange of experiences and good practices, as well as the strengthening of reporting mechanisms, with the aim of increasing transparency, efficiency and quality of public services at the local level.
MLGA will continue to support municipalities in order to strengthen local governance, increase institutional capacities and advance cooperation between the central and local levels.
