On September 22, 2026, a monitoring visit took place in Mirdite as part of the “Mirdita-Junik” project, which is being implemented under the Albania-Kosovo Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. The visit was attended by representatives from the Programme’s implementing bodies—Albania’s State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination (SASPAC) and the Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA)—as well as representatives from the European Union Delegation in Tirana, the Mayor of Mirdita, and the project team.
During the visit, the site in the village of Lufaj—where a panoramic viewing platform is planned for construction—was inspected; this follows a similar investment inaugurated in Junik on July 4, 2026. Participants examined the progress of the works firsthand and discussed the remaining steps leading to completion. The platform will offer visitors a unique panoramic viewpoint from which to enjoy the views of the area.
Construction is expected to be completed in October 2026. The completion of this investment will enhance Mirdite’s tourism infrastructure and contribute to promoting the area’s natural and tourism potential.
The “Mirdita – Junik” project, funded under the 4th Call for Proposals of the IPA II Cross-Border Cooperation Programme (Albania – Kosovo), is implemented by CHwB Kosovo, the Municipality of Mirdita, the Municipality of Junik, and the UET Centre. The project aims to foster sustainable tourism development in the cross-border area by improving infrastructure and tourist trails, developing adventure tourism, and promoting natural and cultural heritage.
The Albania – Kosovo Cross-Border Cooperation Programme is implemented by SASPAC and the MLGA and is funded by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
