The Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA) has concluded the series of thematic meetings and workshops dedicated to reviewing, developing, and updating the indicators for the Municipal Performance Management System (MPMS).
This process, carried out over the past week, brought together municipal representatives, MLGA officials, working groups, and subject-matter experts, with the support of Helvetas DEMOS and expert Levent Koro.
During the meetings and workshops, draft indicators for several MPMS areas were reviewed and discussed, specifically:
· Area 3 – Budget and Finance;
· Area 5 – Culture, Youth, and Sport;
· Area 6 – Disaster Management;
· Area 7 – Municipal Spatial Planning;
· Area 8 – Public Spaces;
· Area 9 – Road Infrastructure;
· Area 10 – Public Transport;
· Area 11 – Public Services;
· Area 12 – Environmental Protection;
· Area 13 – Gender Representation; and
· Area 16 – Local Economic Development.
Throughout this process, municipal representatives and experts provided concrete comments, proposals, and recommendations regarding the content, wording, measurement methods, verifiability, and applicability of the indicators.
The discussions offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on municipal experiences and practices, ensuring that the revised indicators are clear, measurable, verifiable, and suitable for accurately assessing municipal performance.
Through this collaborative process, the MLGA aims to further advance the Municipal Performance Management System and strengthen its use as a mechanism for improved planning, data-driven decision-making, transparency, and accountability at the local level.
The conclusion of these meetings marks a significant step toward finalizing the revised MPMS indicators, which will contribute to a more accurate assessment of municipal performance and the continuous improvement of services for citizens.
