Under the patronage of Ministry of Local Government Administration and supported from UNDP, the second annual international conference on local self-government begun today its workings where representatives of accredited local and international institutions, from the region and Europe are participating.

Under the patronage of Ministry of Local Government Administration and supported from UNDP, the second annual international conference on local self-government begun today its workings where representatives of accredited local and international institutions, from the region and Europe are participating.
Konfirming again the commitment of Government of Kosovo for the increase of regional and international cooperation aiming the advance of local government, Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, meantime Minister of Local Government Administration, Slobodan Petrovic said that close cooperation is required aiming advance of public services quality and efficient realization of local self-government strategic aims.
We are aiming to make the national program on local self-government a reality and today we are presenting Kosovo achievements in the local government reform and in decentralization process, segments which derive directly from the Constitution of our country”, said Deputy Prime Minister Petrovic.
Further on the conference, while presenting their practices from the countries they come, a special contribution was given from Mr. Davorin Mlakar, Minister of Public Administration of Croatia, Mr. Bojan Suvorov, State Secretary for Public Administration of Slovenia, Mr. Ferdinand Poni, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Albania, Mr. Mladen Jovovic, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Montenegro, and Mr. Yavuz Selim Kosger, General Director of Local Government of Turkey.
In addition, Mr. Pieter Faith, chief of International Civilian Office (ICO) in Kosovo, Mrs. Osnat Lubrani, United Nations Development Coordinator and meantime Permanent Representative of UNDO in Kosovo, Mr. Milan Bandic, Mayor of Zagreb and Mr. Edmond Panariti, Vice Mayor of Tirana presented in the conference.
The two-day conference will continue its workings tomorrow and aims to bring together representatives of self-government units and ministries from Kosovo and region, government institutions, civil society and international agencies involved in the advance of local government.
