The Secretary General of MLGA Venera Çerkini participated in the monthly progress meeting for the project “Municipalities for Youth” in Kosovo in order to discuss the progress achieved and agree on further steps in the implementation of the project. During the meeting special emphasis was placed on the implementation of field activities, including all communities selected in the 10 partner municipalities. Mobilization and activities have been successfully completed, and over 2000 young people aged 15-24 have applied for the first cycle of training. While the physical and online activities so far have reached an audience of over 300,000 people.
Additionally, the project management team discussed in line with the work plan about the implementation of activities, including the finalization of training manuals for young people, preparations for the training program for staff of partner municipalities, the progress of work with local partners, etc. During this period, due to the deterioration of the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, the targeting of schools and youth centers has been considered challenging, since most have been closed. Therefore, the final stage of online application has provided young people with the additional opportunity to express their interest in becoming part of the project activities.
The World Bank has congratulated the MLGA and the CDF on achieving an important project objective – the large number of young people interested in participating in the first cycle of trainings and sub-grants. The call for applications for training remains open until the end of February 2022.
